| 'Rampton Box' | ||
| In the 1970s Dr. Jake Johnston was responsible for providing anaesthesia to Rampton Hospital, for dental and psychiatric reasons. To supplement the equipment available a box was constructed to carry the required drugs, IV cannulae, endo-tracheal tubes etc. It was manufactured from a Regent theatre gloves box, with handles conveniently provided by intravenous blood bottle holders. Attending Rampton was a junior anaesthetist's rota highlight, involving a beautiful drive there and back with the added luxury of being out of contact with the base Northern General Hospital! On Jake's retirement this 'burden' moved to a nearer Anaesthetic Department. | ||
